Paul Ritter is a London-born, Paris-raised artist living in New York City. His paintings largely revolve around conflicted boys and their fragile egos, all living on the end of a moment with no sense of what’s next. Remixing art historical and pop cultural references from Fragonard to Dix to Jarmusch to Radiohead, the work questions beauty tropes, the unhealthy fantasy of nostalgia, popping the hyper-masculinity balloon, and the messy legacy of Generation X.
